HOW
Using special lighting from the fairground backdrop and golden hour sunset, to create a cinematic shoot
The approach: light, movement, atmosphere
The Hoppings is pure visual chaos in the best way โ flashing bulbs, spinning rides, saturated colours and constant motion. The goal of this shoot was to harness that energy and shape it into something cinematic and controlled, without losing the raw atmosphere of the fairground.
We combined bespoke off-camera lighting with the existing festival and ride lights, using them as practicals in-frame to build depth and drama. As the sun dropped, we leaned into golden hour and sunset tones, letting natural light blend seamlessly with neon and tungsten glows from the rides.
Every frame was about contrast:
-
Warm sunset skin tones vs electric fairground colours
-
Sharp subject focus against motion blur and light trails
-
Fashion-led posing in a chaotic, real-world environment
No studio. No sterile setups. Just controlled creativity in a live, unpredictable setting.
Why it works
Tyne Tees modelling is all about character and presence, and Eddie brought exactly that. The fairground backdrop elevated the shoot beyond standard model imagery, giving it a bold editorial feel while staying grounded in the North East.
Shooting at The Hoppings meant reacting fast – crowds moving, lights changing, rides starting and stopping. The challenge was part of the magic. By embracing the environment rather than fighting it, the images feel authentic, energetic and cinematic.
The result
๐ธ A striking editorial-style image set
๐ธ Cinematic lighting with real-world atmosphere
๐ธ Strong portfolio imagery with a distinctive North East identity
